Under the Hood

Built to see,
built to sense.

Every Theseus™ is built from two parts: ION, designed to live in the vehicle and read the machine, and Panoptes, the display designed to show you what it finds. They share one telemetry language end to end, so nothing gets lost in translation, or guessed at, between the machine and the helm.

The Core Systems

ION & Panoptes

Two modules and one shared telemetry language, designed to work together from day one.

ION

Sense · Record · Connect

The Sensor Controller

ION is designed to live in the vehicle and read the machine directly. On our test units it reads supply voltage and GPS (position, speed and time) today. Engine RPM, impact and jump sensing, trim zone and cooling-water pressure are in development and will be validated on the water before launch. ION turns raw signals into one normalized telemetry stream, sent over Bluetooth to the Theseus phone app.

  • Every firmware update is cryptographically signed by Theseus Instruments, and secure boot is designed to refuse firmware we didn’t sign.
  • Over the air, updates install only from your paired phone, over an encrypted Bluetooth connection.
  • Firmware stored encrypted on the chip, and a unique hardware identity for every ION.
  • Designed to retrofit into existing hulls, not just new builds.

Panoptes

See · Know · Ride

The Display

Panoptes is the dashboard designed to put ION’s readings in front of you, built around three screens: a home view, a trip view, and a diagnostics view that shows whether each reading is live, stale or unavailable. The Theseus 7 is designed around a 7-inch, 1024 x 600 touch display, the Theseus 5 around a 5-inch one.

  • Designed to be read at a glance.
  • Built on the same telemetry language as ION, and designed so every reading shows whether it is live, stale or unavailable.

The Difference

A Dashboard That Doesn’t Guess

Every reading, qualified

ION and Panoptes share a telemetry protocol that tags every value with its own state — live, stale, or not installed — so a blank sensor never gets silently reported as zero.

One account

Register your ION to your Theseus account and check its status on the web or in the app. ION reports through the app on your phone, so your account can show what ION recorded.

Security built in

ION firmware updates are cryptographically signed by Theseus Instruments, and ION’s secure boot is designed to run only firmware we signed. Over the air, updates reach ION only from your paired phone, over an encrypted connection. Next: every ride record provably from your ION.
